Power Up Your Daily Affirmations: Get A Helpful Boost From Hypnosis

Updated: Jul 4, 2023

Finding effective tools to improve our mental well-being is crucial. Two powerful techniques that I use are affirmations and hypnosis. Both methods tap into the mind's potential to shape our beliefs, thoughts, and behaviors. This article explores the definitions of affirmations and hypnosis, how they are similar and different, and how they can work together for transformation.

Affirmations: Rewiring the Mind

Affirmations are positive statements that are repeated consistently to reprogram the subconscious mind. They serve as a powerful tool to shift negative thought patterns and cultivate a more optimistic mindset. By consciously choosing empowering words and phrases, we can create new neural pathways in the brain, rewiring our thinking and beliefs.

Affirmations can be transformative. They help us replace self-limiting beliefs with positive and empowering ones. For example, if someone struggles with low self-esteem, repeating affirmations such as "I am worthy of love and respect" or "I believe in my abilities" can gradually lift their self-confidence. The key is to choose affirmations that resonate with your individual needs and goals.

There are two ways I use affirmations. The first is centered around a theme. An example of this would be affirmations for self-confidence or forgiveness. When I follow this style of affirmation, I repeat a variety of statements all centered on my theme. The second way I use affirmations is to repeat the very same phrase over and over again. When I use this type of affirmation, I might repeat the same phrase for 3 minutes or 100 times or some way of focusing my attention on a single mantra.

One affirmation I have used too many times to count is “I release, release, release, let go and let God.” I have found this affirmation to be very positive and helpful to reduce the power of something on my mind and give the problem over to the Universe. It has been very helpful at times of great uncertainty and times when I wanted influence or control in a difficult situation.

To make affirmations more effective, incorporate visualization and emotional engagement. Visualizing the desired outcome while reciting affirmations helps create a vivid mental image of success, enhancing motivation and focus. Additionally, attaching positive emotions to affirmations strengthens their impact, as our subconscious mind responds strongly to emotional stimuli. Regular practice, consistency, and belief in the process are essential.

Hypnosis: Accessing the Subconscious

Hypnosis is a therapeutic technique that induces a trance state to access the subconscious mind. It is a tool to promote self-discovery, healing, and positive change.

During hypnosis, an individual goes into a deep state of relaxation, bypassing the conscious mind and accessing the subconscious. In this receptive state, individuals become more open to suggestions that align with their goals and desires. The therapist can then introduce positive affirmations and visualizations, helping to reframe negative beliefs, manage pain, reduce anxiety, improve self-esteem, and more.

Hypnosis is an effective therapy for a range of issues, including weight management, smoking cessation, phobias, and stress reduction. Research suggests that the relaxed state induced during hypnosis enhances the brain's plasticity, making it more receptive to new patterns of thinking and behavior.

Affirmations are often incorporated in hypnosis. Because the brain is in a very relaxed state of mind, hypnotic affirmations bypass the conscious mind and go directly to the subconscious mind. Affirmations are particularly powerful in hypnosis because of the mind’s open and receptive state.

For instance, a person seeking to overcome a fear of public speaking might begin by practicing affirmations such as "I am a confident and compelling speaker." Focusing on this affirmation with hypnosis can further enhance their progress by addressing any underlying anxieties and facilitating a shift at the subconscious level.

Affirmations and hypnosis are valuable tools for personal growth and self-improvement. They tap into the power of the mind to rewire limiting beliefs, promote positive change, and enhance overall well-being. Whether used individually or in combination, these techniques offer unique pathways to unlock the vast potential of the mind-body connection.
